This longterm engagement aimed to support research for capacity building and mentorship of civil society groups in Nigeria to improve the political relevancy and organizational sustainability of their budget advocacy work through conducting research at over 100 schools in 5 different local government areas. Research training focused on survey and ethnographic interviewing techniques as well as design research synthesis strategies. Research with educators effects of an ongoing state-wide reform surfaced key recommendations for making better use of education funds for students in neglected schooling environments.
Following the research study, the advocacy groups were welcomed to provide evidenced-based advisory on state spending strategies. Additionally, as a service designer, I designed the concept and wireframes for an education spending and citizen reporting accountability platform.
